BUS NEWS: Wwe were able to purchase a newer bus last year, but unfortunately it came with over $30,000 worth of repairs needed. Donations to help with those bills are greatly appreciated! The bus allows us to take 49 people on the Mission Trips and help other churches with a lower cost for transportation on their Mission Trips.
MISSION TRIP NEWS:
SOUTH DAKOTA: Standing Rock Indian Reservation Mission Tripdate is June 25 – July 2, cost for teens $395, adults $250 (& we really need more adult help!) We can help you with letters to solicit donations to help cover your fees!
There are several different ways to begin earning your $395.00 for the Mission Trip for now:
- Mail or hand out letters requesting sponsorship: Please address the letter at the top as “Dear ___________” and sign your name at the bottom. Download the sample letter from the “Fund Raising” link on the walkonwaterministries.net web page & edit it to personalize.
- Use color WOW promotional brochures to give to family, friends, teachers, and parents take to their workplaces. These can be downloaded & printed from the “Fund Raising” link on the walkonwaterministries.net web page. The donor should fill out their information on the card and return it to the participant along with their check made out to Walk On Water Ministries. We will later mail that card back, signed as a receipt for their tax deductions.
NOTE: All of the money earned from these fundraisers will go directly to your fee, not to be shared by the group. If you choose to earn above the $395.00 fee and help defray the many hidden costs of the trips, that would be greatly appreciated, too!
JEWELRY SALES: Another fundraiser for WOW will be selling homemade beaded jewelry. I already have several necklaces, chokers, bracelets, earrings and key chains made up. Stop by to see the selection. . All profits will go to help cover the insurance cost, truck & bus repairs. I will take orders for special colors, styles, etc. OR have a jewelry making party & all profits go toward your fee. Cost is $10/person to make a necklace.
Good luck and God Bless! Lori
At a date to be determined, we plan to hold a Raffle/Dinner/Auction/ and announce the winners of our raffle. The dinner will be held at Christ The King Believers Together Center
Details for the Fund Raiser:
- Prepare and serve a delicious Dinner
- Hold a live auction with a professional auctioneer for donated items; gift baskets; etc.
- Sell tickets for a chance to win a vacation trip on the WOW bus, details to be worked out, but preliminary plans are for a family cabin for 4-5 days on Lake of the Ozarks with boating & jet skis available. OR a trip to Disney World.
There are many ways you can help out:
- Dinner: Donate ingredients for dinner, make a dessert, bake breads, help cook and/or serve the dinner; help with decorations and set up; be on the ‘clean up’ committee
- Auction: Donate ‘collectables’ or ‘slightly used’ items; make a gift basket for auction; get a group to offer a special night out dinner to be auctioned off; solicit businesses for coupons or donations; donate hand-made items; or be creative – come up with any donation!
- Raffle: Donate money or items that would go along with the vacation ‘theme’ for raffle; help sell raffle tickets; solicit businesses for coupons or donations.
- Volunteer to be on one of the committees for each of the three different fund areas: Dinner, Auction or Raffle
If you are a teen who has been on one of the Mission Trips, we are hoping you will volunteer to help serve the food, and would like several to offer to give a short witness as to how that trip changed your life and in what way. We might also include skits and/or singing during the dinner so if you would like to help out with ‘entertainment’, please let us know!
INFORMATION YOU SHOULD KNOW IF PEOPLE ASK YOU ABOUT WOW MINISTRIES
The funds raised will be used for fuel and other bus expenses to make our yearly Mission Trip to Standing Rock Indian Reservation in South Dakota; and help teens with their fees to join the trip. We have helped out the Lakota people of Standing Rock Indian Reservation for over 9 years, making 12 week-long work trips and 3 trips to deliver toys for Christmas; winter clothing; and supplies to help a family whose home burned down.
You can go to walkonwaterministries.net to see our Mission Statement and click on the ‘pictures’ link to see our work in action. “We believe the gospel of Jesus is not just about words, but also actions.”
Over 1,000 teens and adults have made the trips in the past and have said they have been spiritually renewed by their service to God helping with work projects; Bible School and our nightly lesson and sharing times.
We are scheduled to go the last week in June this year, and the cost per person is $395, $250 for adultS and that doesn’t cover all the fuel, bus, and food expenses we incur.
Walk On Water Ministries is a not-for-profit organization so all donations are tax deductible.
Thank you for your help with this fund raiser, even if it is just in prayer. May God Bless you and say; “Well done, good and faithful servant.” (Matthew 25:23)
